Cynthia Summers – Cynthia Summers’s songs are full of what Sing Out! magazine calls  “intricate imagery.”  The Online Folk Festival notes that Summers “writes seemingly simple songs about domestic life that explore larger truths.” And, she can sing, with a voice that has been likened to some of the best in acoustic music. Seth Glier – For 22-year-old Massachusetts native Seth Glier, The Next Right Thing isn’t just an album title – it’s a way of life. Chelsea Berry – Chelsea Berry is a singer/songwriter with the edge, power, and finesse of legends. Heather Maloney – Heather Maloney had one of her first public shows at a small coffee shop in Northampton Massachusetts in September of 2009. She was so nervous and timid that she had to be prodded onto the stage. Swear and Shake – In a city that offers endless new sounds, New York-based band Swear & Shake’s loyal fan base and earnest talent have driven them on tours across the US and into the focal point of fawning critics. Andrea Belanger – Raised up through the cracked cobblestones of Fall River, Massachusetts, an old mill town host to the ghosts of Native Americans past and forgotten textile dreams, Andrea Belanger is a young singer/songwriter and student of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Air Traffic Controller – Serving in the US Navy as a real-life air traffic controller, singer/songwriter Dave Munro sent home 4-track demos he had written and recorded during his deployment. With his enlistment up, Munro returned to hometown Boston and discovered an impressive number of fans, prompting the genesis of the aptly-named rock band Air Traffic Controller. Rory Sullivan – Rory Sullivan & The Second Season is a New York City based band playing an infectious blend of progressive folk with pop sensibility and a country flair. Micah – Micah is an up and coming singer-songwriter originally from Rochester, NY. He spent the last four years living in Boston, while receiving a bachelor’s degree in Music Business from Northeastern University in May of 2010. Nate & Kate – Nate & Kate met and began playing together in Binghamton, NY in 2005, and self-booked a 3-month tour of the Eastern-US that fall (’05). They have continued touring, promoting, and writing, and released their debut album, FAME BY FRAME, late in 2007. Avi Wisnia – Think Ben Folds meets Norah Jones, if they had a lovechild in Brazil. Emi Meyer – Emi Meyer is a celebrated enigma. Multicultural, genre-defying and always on the move, she is accustomed to a lot of hyphens when others describe her multifaceted life and music. Adam Levy – Adam Levy is perhaps best known for his tenure as the featured guitarist in Norah Jones’ Handsome Band (2001–2007). Nini and Ben – Two sixteen year olds were en route to a birthday party, and realized they didn’t have a gift. “Let’s write him a song,” they thought. Unbeknownst to them, that afternoon sparked a partnership between two songwriters who would fall in love with each other, and the gypsy lifestyle they were bound to lead. Waking up in a ragged old VW bus. Performing at clubs and cafes. Writing songs on acoustic guitars and Wurlitzers. Miles to Dayton – With a well-crafted mix of folk, rock, classical and funk, this Long Island based ensemble brings an honest message of love, life and laughter to each performance. The M2D recipe is simple: four-part vocal harmony textures, solid songwriting, improvisational violin and cello, and an infectious rhythm section that stirs up the creative stew. The band features the talents of vocalist Krista (March) Preddice, often compared to the likes of Natalie Merchant and Dolores O’Riordan. Ari Hest – Already signed to a major, he opted out of his label deal so that he could have more control over his art. Jeff LeBlanc – In early 2006, LeBlanc released his first four track demo entitled “Stories From a Small Town”. The album featured songs he wrote and recorded in his Sacred Heart University dorm room. In late 2006, he began touring colleges and venues on weekends while he continued to complete his college degree. In 2008, Jeff was voted to showcase at the National Association for Campus Activities Northeast Conference by over 850 college talent buyers in Hartford, Connecticut. He again achieved this feat in October 2009 at the National Association for Campus Activities Mid-Atlantic Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Mike Krum – Mike Krum is, in essence, the joining of artistic forces between accomplished guitarist, composer, and producer Dave Chiappetta and the startlingly talented singer-songwriter Mike Krumholz. Rebecca Jordan – Just nominated for Best EP by the Independent Music Awards for her Souvenir EP, Rebecca Jordan is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter on the rise. Amy Regan – Recently named one of Music Connection’s Hot 100 Unsigned Artists, Amy Regan is quickly becoming one of New York’s most talked about rising talents. Meg Braun – “My inspirations come from a lot of different places,” Meg says. “On this CD there is a lot that came from my childhood and teen years – what is personal can be universal – but a lot of my writing philosophy comes from the idea that you don’t have to use facts to tell the truth.” In this way, Tomboy Princess is rich in truth. In songs both sweetly melodious (“Once Upon a Time”) and solemn (“No More Happily Ever After”) Meg uses the language of fables and folk tales to illuminate the modern world. Barnaby Bright – Barnaby Bright’s music has been featured on television shows such as ER, Days of Our Lives, and PBS Roadtrip Nation. Their song, “If I Came Back as a Song” was voted 3rd place winner by a notable panel of judges including Tom Waits, in 2007′s International Song-Writing Competition. Last November, their song ‘Gravity’ was chosen as a finalist out of thousands of entries in the New York Songwriter’s Circle Competition. They were featured as an “Emerging Artist” at the legendary Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in upstate NY this summer, and are returning to Europe this fall for a month-long tour. Putnam Smith – Putnam Smith, who hails from Portland, Maine, could be an old-world troubadour fresh from the 19th Century.  After all, he lives in a log cabin and plays his Grandfather’s banjo.  Yet this rootsy multi-instrumentalist songwriter (he also plays guitar, mandolin,  and piano), steeped as he is in old-time Appalachian traditions, is very much a storyteller for the modern age. Antje Duvekot – Antje Duvekot (AN-tyuh DOO-va-kot) is a German-born, American-raised singer-songwriter who has risen to the top of the competitive Boston singer-songwriter scene. Nini and Ben – Two sixteen year olds were en route to a birthday party, and realized they didn’t have a gift. “Let’s write him a song,” they thought. Unbeknownst to them, that afternoon sparked a partnership between two songwriters who would fall in love with each other, and the gypsy lifestyle they were bound to lead. Waking up in a ragged old VW bus. Performing at clubs and cafes. Writing songs on acoustic guitars and Wurlitzers. This simple and unpredictable way of living has yielded the most profound moments of their lives that are captured in their warm and expressive songs. The duo have spent years performing all over the U.S., Europe and Australia. Nini+Ben were selected out of 400 acts to be featured on the Heavy Rotation Records compilation, which debuted to a sold out crowd of 1,200 at the Berklee Performance Center in 2009. Air Traffic Controller; Dave Munro and The String Quartet – Serving in the US Navy as a real-life air traffic controller, singer/songwriter Dave Munro sent home 4-track demo tapes of songs written during his deployment. With his enlistment up, Munro returned to hometown Boston and discovered an impressive number of fans upon his arrival, prompting the genesis of the aptly-named roots rock band Air Traffic Controller.  Accolades and award nominations soon followed; as did airplay on tastemaker radio stations such as WFNX and WERS, and coverage in publications such as Business Week, Boston Herald, Performer Magazine, Boston Globe and the Boston Phoenix.  The One is the debut album release for both ATC and Sugarpop Records and was produced by power pop/rock maestro BLEU.  Dave Munro will be performing with a string quartet for this performance. HUCK – Huck grew up in Long Island, New York, in an area highly influenced by the punk and emo scene in the early nineties.  He found it difficult to promote his music through these avenues, having a much more sensual sound attached to lyrics that hold depth perception. Being aware of this paradox, he sought out and followed artists who were on the same page. Songwriters like Adam Duritz and Thom Yorke made him realize that the immeasurable feeling in poetry equates fulfillment.  With over 700 shows to date, Huck has exposed his experiences in life, passion, and love to one listener at a time.  He has an incomparable ability to sing the truths we all grow to experience.  Starting at the age of 14, HUCK performed at local coffee shops and events throughout Long Island. Miles to Dayton – With a well-crafted mix of folk, rock, classical and funk, this Long Island based ensemble brings an honest message of love, life and laughter to each performance. The M2D recipe is simple: four-part vocal harmony textures, solid songwriting, improvisational violin and cello, and an infectious rhythm section that stirs up the creative stew. Rachel Griffin – A native of in Portland, Maine, Rachel Griffin now calls New York City her home. Rachel began performing in the musical theater at age seven, appearing in venues throughout Maine. In March of 2003, she released her first independent CD, “Let It Go,” receiving rave reviews for her CD and live performances. The Portland Press Herald stated, “Rachel Griffin, at the ripe old age of 20, is putting out music like a veteran. Jesse Ruben – In January of 2008, Jesse released his debut album “Aiming for Honesty” which was recorded over a two week period in Atlanta with producer Clay Cook (John Mayer, Marshall Tucker Band). What followed was a trio of sold out CD release shows in Philadelphia (World Café Live), New York (The Bitter End), and Boston (The Paradise Lounge).
