Nate & Kate LIVE at Acoustic Long Island 9-7-2011
Nate & Kate – Nate & Kate met and began playing together in Binghamton, NY in 2005, and self-booked a 3-month tour of the Eastern-US that fall (’05). They have continued touring, promoting, and writing, and released their debut album, FAME BY FRAME, late in 2007. FAME BY FRAME has garnered strong reviews, regular Central-NY radio airplay, and was ranked amongst the “top 25 indie CD’s in the first half of 2008” by Wildysworld Blog. In 2009 the duo played over 150 shows, and organized an “Eat Local Tour” of NY State farmers markets which garnered significant press. Early in 2010 Nate & Kate performed live on “Expressions” (WSKG Central-NY TV), received airplay on NPR in Central-NY, and recently joined forces with author/columnist Amy Dickinson (“Ask Amy,” “Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me”) for a vaudeville-inspired evening of music, juggling, and readings from her best-selling memoir at Syracuse’s Palace Theater. After downing the crowd with reports of Hurricane Irene’s devastation, Dave introduced Long Island singer/songwriter Shawn Cullinane to the stage.
Adam Levy LIVE at Acoustic Long Island 8-03-2011
Adam Levy – Adam Levy is perhaps best known for his tenure as the featured guitarist in Norah Jones’ Handsome Band (2001–2007). He played on her breakout 2002 CD ‘Come Away with Me’ and her next two albums as well. Levy has been onstage and/or in the studio with Rosanne Cash, Amos Lee, M. Ward, and up-and-coming Aussie artist Eran James. In addition to Levy’s skills as a player, he is a gifted songwriter. He penned “In the Morning” for Jones’ Feels Like Home, and other artists have recorded his songs as well. There’s no doubt, though, that the best way to hear Levy’s folk/pop/blues gems is straight from the source. Levy has recorded several albums on his own. ‘The Heart Collector’ is his latest. “It is a great album overflowing with warm and soulful songs that enchant the ears and captivate the heart.” —No Depression. Emi Meyer LIVE at Acoustic Long Island 8-03-2011
Emi Meyer – Emi Meyer is a celebrated enigma. Multicultural, genre-defying and always on the move, she is accustomed to a lot of hyphens when others describe her multifaceted life and music. Born in Kyoto Japan and raised in Seattle, her bi-cultural heritage has clearly shaped the unique jazz-inspired pop sound heard on her three albums – one of which is entirely in Japanese. With the release of her first album, Curious Creature, Emi was invited to perform at the legendary Sundance Film Festival and shot to #1 on the Japanese jazz charts after her single – Room Blue – was chosen “Single of the Week” on iTunes. She continued to evolve as an artist and broaden her concept of songwriting with her second album, Passport, written solely in Japanese. Her sound is a refreshingly unique blend of jazz, pop, soul and so much more that is not often found in today’s world of filters and autotune. Her latest work, the aptly named Suitcase of Stones, brings her full circle with her return to the English language and unites the light-heartedness of traveling with the solemnity of memory in a way that only she can convey. August Intro with Tommy Santoriello

Summer Concert featuring Ari Hest 7-9-2011
Ari Hest – Already signed to a major, he opted out of his label deal so that he could have more control over his art. He then embarked on his ambitious ‘52’ project, during which he spent all of last year immersed in an unprecedented effort – to write, record, produce and release one new song per week, for 52 weeks in a row. Now, he will self-release his new studio CD, ‘Twelve Mondays,’ on March 10th. The album features reworked versions of 12 fan-selected songs, culled from the past year’s extraordinary output. It’s a renegade path that reveals the ‘New Music Industry’ at its best, and allows Hest’s impressive work to find the audience he wants it to find. ‘Twelve Mondays’ showcases the diversity of Hest’s songwriting – from the haunting, minimasterpiece “Broken Voices” to the USA TODAY ‘Listen Up Music Pick’ “The Weight,” which was praised as a “poignant, acoustic reverie…” — From the wistful travelogue “Ride The Brake” to the radio-friendly “Dead End Driving,” it’s a remarkable mix that’s distinguished by the intelligence, nuance and range of Hest’s material. Add to that the fact that these songs were written amid the week-to-week gauntlet of ‘52’, and it’s all the more impressive. For more, go to www.arihest.com.
